Eva Spierenburg (1987) attended the HKU, and was a resident at the Rijksakademie. Her current practice includes painting, sculpture, drawing, video and performance.
Spierenburg’s work describes the correlation between our inner processes, and our physical body interacting with the world. She considers the body to be a carrier for the individual; a shell where experiences and sensory perceptions manifest themselves and are archived. With her work she aims to find a form for the human experiences that escape grip and language. An expression of personal matters and memories that transcends the individual, in search of the humanity we share. Recurring themes are the vulnerability of the body and mind, temporality, and the encounter between extremities like presence-absence, internal-external, solid-soft, earthly-spiritual.
